Great Value at an Incredable Low Price August 15, 2010 T. Laskawski This e-machine computer is one of the best computers on the market. Talk about the price as well. Around $330 for this kind of computer which has 500GB of memory. You just cannot beat that price. You really don't need a brand name computer because this one works perfect. I have had it for about two months now and it was the greatest buy I have ever made. The computer goes fast and have had not problems with it. Windows 7 is a great upgrade from Vista and works so well. This is something that I would recommend to anybody. For the price that you will be paying for it, consider it a steal. Computers like this one usually go into the $500 or $600 range. You do not have to spend that much for a quality computer. If you buy this computer it will probably out-do the much more expensive computers out there on the market.
Very pleased with this eMachine ET 1831-05 July 19, 2010 Jeb Baker (Danbury, CT United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If it was a new car it would be just a plain old generic silver sedan model, no high end quad core or super high capacity hard drive; but the machine is quiet, and stable. And it's probably still faster than most high end models that were purchased more than 5 or 6 years ago! Tech support was decent too, and fairly quickly solved an issue I had where an updated video driver intermittently killed the ps/2 mouse port (of all things!); which I never could have figured out without their help. I was sure it was a hardware problem and was ready to give this machine a royal hosing of a review. Granted their solution was harsh - save all your stuff somewhere else and re-install the operating system; but it worked. Now I just have to remember to not update that video driver ever, unless I find the fix mentioned in the readme. So I can't give it 5 stars.
Back in the real world June 27, 2010 K. Cannis (Menifee, CA USA) I received shipment of my emachine so fast that I was quite surprised. I'm so happy to be back in the real world of communication. Thanks Amazon!

This is more a recommendation and laudits for Amazon rather than the E-machine...I received my e-machine in record time (when told it would be over 2 weeks I got it in 2 days from Amazon). I uploaded, downloaded and began my usage. On day two when I downloaded my Print Shop 22 program it all crashed. I KNEW it was the Print Shop program. I had also connected my old hard drive via an external hard drive device. This crash wiped out all my "old" information, literally my life. I had support from E-machine or Ace people, but nothing worked. I never had a chance to make my recovery disk - it would not create it and was told it would be 10 working days before I could get one from the Acer people. I actually received it in about 5 days but it would not work either. The machine had been fried I guess (don't know terms or how things work but the computer would not even come up when turned on.) I was given labels, info, etc to return it to the Acer place in Longview TX and they were to "mend" it and return it to me. I then decided to return it to Amazon. I had already discarded all packing and boxes, but Amazon said no problem, just send it back to them (with a supplied label). I did so and within a week I had my refund in process. I did buy another E-machine, bigger and better and did NOT load any Print Shop on it. I am VERY happy with my new machine and ELATED with Amazon. I would not hesitate to EVER purchase from Amazon -- they are amazing.
support is atrocious! June 25, 2010 John Little (Asheville, NC USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This machine is 2 days old, and I'm checking out the software that came with it. I tried to use the MS Works Task Launcher, which requires a product key. I input the product key from the side of the case, and it tells me it's an invalid key. Check the number, put it in again, same thing.
I decide to send an email to emachines support. On the web browser (IE) that came with the machine, there's a link to emachine support. I send a report, using the form on that link. I get back an email telling me that email address is no longer good; I need to use their online form. Now, remember, this was THEIR link that I followed! So I went to their form, filled it out and explained the problem: invalid product key won't let me use the software. My form was accepted. After that, I was asked to input some info to create an account with them. So I filled out the form and was presented with an error message that told me the "action" was unsuccessful. That's it, no alternatives... The form wasn't accepted. What am I supposed to do now? Who knows?!!!
So later, I get an email reply to my report about the invalid product key. And I quote: "Unfortunately, we are unable to offer support for this type of issue. Please understand that Emachines technicians have not been trained on every possible software title or hardware component. Emachines technicians can assist you with the removal or installation of any hardware or software purchased from Emachines. Due to the magnitude of information that would need to be learned, Emachines technicians are not trained on all the advanced features of the software or hardware Emachines sells." ADVANCED FEATURES!!! Oh, they can assist with "installation of any software purchased from emachines" but not if it involves something as sophisticated as an invalid product key.
Here's the best part: They want me to PAY them... PAY THEM... for help with this!!! They want to set me up with their paid support team because their product key doesn't work! But wait! It's not over...
I followed the link in the email to reply to their reply, filled out the form, hit "submit" and... the same error message as before, the "action" couldn't be completed. Too bad, you're out of luck, you can't reply to the extortion attempt. (Even if you're stupid enough to do it, you can't because their reply form doesn't work.)
Folks, if you will ever... EVER... need help with your computer, you'd better buy something besides emachine!
